not exactly a deep cut or nothing but it does seem fucked up that this wasnt a live staple for therm forever, song is such a jam

as always, great crowd shots

DJ’ed tonight for the first time in forever
didnt go super good
was super late notice but i should be able to do this shit in my sleep

didnt matter, the other dude did most of the hard lifting (in all applicable senses) i just brought a huge crate of records i could barely carry and then lost this dudes coke somehow unless it was a scam which i dont think it was, hes a friend and i felt bad so i gave him ten of the 20 bucks i made

dont remember the order, sure im forgetting songs, we kinda tagged each other in and out but he played way longer and covered my ass to where i didnt mind being bossed around for once

i know i played more stuff, i know my goddamn copy of perverted by language is missing and so is the sleeve for my tubeway army 7”
fuck this kinda djing i think

takeshi terauchi - mamuro gawa ondo
lonely surfer by jack nitzsche
plastic crimewave sound - grade ceased

far out fangtooth - patience

stranglers - let me introduce you to the family
100 flowers - dont own my own heart

the fall - slang king
ventures - manchurian beat
the fall - its the new thing!
primitive calculators - pumping ugly muslce (played the wrong goddamn side of the 7” with them doing it as old guys, ugh)
maggots - lets get tammy wynette
title track of this by “unknown”

love - a house is not a motel
why are we so fragile - tubeway army
laissez faire - stereolab
violent change - feeling in the dark
the fall - smile (realized here I was wearing a fall shirt)
king khan and bbq - we are the ocean
x-ray eyeballs - crystal
psychedelic horseshit - bring on the curse
the barbaras - summertime road
del shannon - keep searchin
mantles - secret heart
robedoor - blanked out
pin group - ambivalence
calico wall - i’m a living sickness
birthday party - say a spell
mc - looking at you (super raw babes in arms demoversion)
started a bunch of things at the wrong speed or put the needle on the wrong song or didnt fade quick enough

never made any of those mistakes before which just made it feel worse, was also not drinking very much

upside: i found these retarded sunglasses at the bar after they closed

they are bad but they are also mine, now image

i’m a living sickness

oh fun postscript i went to the atm and as soon as my records were safe at home i went to pill hill and bought $25 bucks worth of methadone even though i said i was done

this was the most money ive ever paid for a show but i got to see sparks for free the next night so i try to pretend like they were both fairly priced big name shows :/

sparks show was a big ol kick in the dick though, the 2 hands one mouth tour is a neat idea but i wasnt feeling it at all, the newer stuff sounded great but all the classics got totally butchered, i almost left when they did “sherlock holmes” as a jaunty cabaret thing

anyway this show was great, the crowd fucking sucked (70 dollar tickets tend to bring out a certain element, especially in san francisco 2013), someone actually laid “is this your first concert?” on me, just unreal, apparently he had a 2nd encore on the setlist but didnt do it because of lack of audience response

the thing that really stood out to me, at the very beginning it felt awkward and stilted, watching this pretty old dude slink around, it didnt look good, it didnt have his whole electricity and then like 2-3 songs in i realized like

he has to ease into it now, every time he did a stage move it seemed more natural, by a few songs in it was like “oh ok nick cave is here now”, totally incredible show

weirdly, same deal as the spiritualized show i saw in joshua tree, the one letdown was the song i wanted to hear the most (deanna for nick, medication for spiritualized)

everything else just worked perfectly at this show, the kids choir wasnt annoying, the new album shit all sounded great and made me like the album more, setlist was amazing

best birthday present i ever bought myself
